At some point must we let our dreams go “gently into that good night” in the face of adult responsibilities and the reality of life and family?
Does growing-up involve surrendering the hope of eternal significance and the dream of impact for Christ as increasing responsibilities choke our schedules?
I think not.
I recently heard C. McNair Wilson, a brilliant speaker and author, say that God’s act of Creation extends beyond the six days in Genesis. God creates each of us for a purpose; for the fulfillment of the dreams He intentionally placed in our hearts. God’s creation will be incomplete if we allow those dreams to slip away, unrealized. The dreams God entrusts to us, to glorify Him, are a critical aspect of His story of time and eternity.
Do we believe in God’s specific intentionality? Belief without action is merely opinion. Do we truly believe God has specific plans for us or is that just a nice opinion?
If we believe we were created specifically for tasks that God placed in our hearts as desires and dreams (Psalm 37:4, Philippians 2:13, Ephesians 2:10), then a few questions surface if we are being intellectually honest…
Am I really chasing the dreams God put in my heart?
How would the world be different today if we all pursued those dreams without fear?
Does my life reflect belief or opinion?
Part 2 coming next Friday…
